Triad Associates Secures Over $3M in NJDCA Small Cities Grants – Ready to Help Your Community Next!

Triad Associates is excited to announce that we have helped secure $3,073,782 in Small Cities Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding for eight municipalities throughout New Jersey.

The Small Cities CDBG program provides critical funding to eligible municipalities and counties for projects that strengthen communities and address important local needs, including housing rehabilitation, public infrastructure, public facility improvements, community revitalization, and economic development. The program is available to non-entitlement local governments, generally those serving populations of fewer than 50,000 residents that do not receive CDBG funding directly from HUD. In New Jersey, the program is administered by the New Jersey Department of Community Affairs’ Division of Housing and Community Resources.

For FY26, Triad secured funding for eight of our clients across two categories: Public Facilities and Housing Rehabilitation.

Public Facilities – Totaling $2,519,782

  • Borough of Penns Grove – $379,397 to replace failing clay storm sewer on North Smith Avenue with reinforced concrete pipe. This award will reconstruct the roadway, reduce flooding, and eliminate collapse risk.
  • Borough of Woodbine – $400,000 to make improvements to the water system along Longfellow Street and to reconstruct the affected roadway.
  • City of Gloucester City – $400,000 to replace and/or repair water and sewer lines along the 800 Block of Powell Street and reconstruct portions of the affected roadway.
  • City of North Wildwood – $400,000 to implement ADA improvements at the 5th Avenue Boat Ramp. This award will ensure safe, equitable access for people with disabilities to boating and waterfront recreation.
  • City of Wildwood – $400,000 to make ADA-compliant improvements to the public entrance, adjacent interior public spaces and public parking at the Municipal Building.
  • Township of Commercial – $400,000 for rehabilitation of the Louise E. Moore Senior Center, including the replacement of a deteriorated roof to ensure the Center remains a safe, accessible home base for the community’s seniors.
  • Township of Lawrence – $140,385 to reconstruct the parking lot and related infrastructure at the Senior Center to ensure compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).

 Housing Rehabilitation – Totaling $554,000

  • City of Gloucester City – $170,000 to support housing rehabilitation for low-to moderate-income residents of the city. This award will fund improvements that enhance living conditions, remove safety hazards, and reduce household costs through energy-efficient upgrades.
  • County of Salem – $384,000 for county-wide housing rehabilitation. This award will provide funding to prevent costly system failures, protect property values and safeguarding public health.

The FY27 Small Cities CDBG application cycle is expected to open later this year, making now an ideal time for eligible communities to begin planning.
