Advancing Safer Streets: Triad Associates Secures $415,732 in USDOT Funding for Gloucester Township and Wildwood, NJ

At Triad Associates, we’re proud to support communities across New Jersey in creating safer, more efficient transportation networks. Recently, our team helped Gloucester Township and the City of Wildwood secure a combined $415,732 in grants through the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) program – a federal initiative designed to prevent roadway fatalities and serious injuries.

The SS4A program emphasizes a proactive, data-driven approach. Communities must first develop a comprehensive Action Plan to assess risks, identify priority safety projects, and guide future investments. These Action Plans are the required first step, unlocking eligibility for implementation funding to carry out safety improvements.

For Gloucester Township, Triad Associates prepared the grant application that secured funding for the development of a Township-wide Action Plan. Using the Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission’s Regional High Injury Network as a foundation, the plan will analyze high-risk vehicle, bicycle, and pedestrian corridors, congestion points near commercial and residential areas, pedestrian-vehicle interactions, and other safety concerns. This will create a clear roadmap for safer streets and more efficient mobility.

Similarly, for Wildwood, our team developed the application to secure funding for the development of a city-wide Action Plan that builds on previous local and regional safety studies. The plan focuses on high-accident corridors and addresses seasonal traffic surges from tourism, which will allow the city to plan future transportation projects that accurately reflect and respond to the competing, seasonally driven realities of this summer resort community.

This data-driven approach equips the city to manage congestion, reduce accidents, and enhance safety for residents and visitors.

Over the past 47 years, Triad Associates has helped communities secure more than $1.7 billion in funding for projects that improve public safety, mobility, and quality of life. By guiding municipalities through the critical first step of SS4A Action Plan development, we ensure communities are not only prepared to access federal implementation funds but also have a clear strategy for long-term roadway safety improvements.

The most recent SS4A funding opportunity opened in March 2025 and closed in June 2025. While the program’s renewal is pending, Triad Associates continues to monitor updates from the USDOT. Contact us if your community is interested in the next round of SS4A funding!
