Taylor Avenue Park Ribbon Cutting: A New Chapter for Gloucester Township Recreation

Triad Associates’ Mike Zumpino and Mike Epifanio joined Gloucester Township officials on Thursday, October 16, 2025, to celebrate the ribbon cutting for the Township’s newly-renovated Taylor Avenue Park.

Earlier in 2024, Triad helped the Township secure $948,630 in 100% non-matching grant funding from the NJ Department of Environmental Protection’s Green Acres Program to transform the outdated recreation area into a modern, multi-generational, inclusive community space. Triad also provided grant administration services, ensuring the project remained fully compliant with Green Acres regulations throughout its development.

From Aging Playground to Modern Recreation Destination

Before its renovation, Taylor Avenue Park featured an aging metal play structure, swings, and benches—equipment that had deteriorated over time and no longer met modern safety standards.

Today, the park offers residents a vibrant new space featuring:

· Playground equipment and a swing set

· A youth obstacle course and adult/senior fitness equipment

· Picnic tables, benches, and a bicycle rack

· A rubber safety surface in place of the old mulch

· A new crosswalk and sidewalk linking the playground to the nearby baseball field

A Record of Partnership and Progress

Triad has long supported Gloucester Township’s partnership with the Green Acres Program, helping the community secure funding for both park improvements and open space preservation. Recent Green Acres investments include:

· $587,000 – New playground equipment at Mulberry Station and Sturbridge Oaks Parks (completed last fall)

· $750,000 – A completely inclusive Jake’s Law Playground at Valleybrook Sports Complex, opening next summer

· $995,000 – Acquisition of 112.43 acres of preserved open space earlier this year, expanding the Township’s park system to approximately 1,089 acres

Celebrating Collaboration

Green Acres project manager Connor Milligan, who oversees park development in Camden County, attended the Taylor Avenue Park ribbon cutting and praised the completed improvements. Following the ceremony, Mayor David Mayer (right), Mr. Milligan (center), and Triad’s Mike Epifanio (left) toured the upcoming Jake’s Place playground site at Valleybrook Sports Complex and visited Community Park, where the Township’s next Green Acres-funded project is planned.
